Did you know that there is a Thermal Imaging Camera that can be purchased for iPhones that can click on to an iPhone that can be used to capture thermal signatures?
The FLIR One sells for about $400 and slides on to the back of an iPhone 5 or 5s. Right now, it doesn’t work with any other iPhone model, such as the 5c or the larger iPhone 6 that Apple is releasing.
Once attached, it doubles the thickness of the phone and contains its own rechargeable battery.
Thermal Camera Practical Uses
There is a practical application for using thermal image cameras, Thermal Cameras can:
- Pin point heat leakages in home insulation
- Identify water leaks (Evaporation usually makes humid areas colder)
- Find studs in walls
- Provide Hunters a method for spotting wildlife
- Night Navigation
- Assist Fireman for finding hotspots or locating victims in smoke
